Do you sell single designs? We do offer a limited number of single designs beginning on this page: http://www.sewmanydesigns.com/singles.htm We do not offer any other customized sets of designs, compilations of your choice of designs, or design sales in any other combination besides the ones you see listed on the single design pages. I'm sorry, but there are no exceptions to this policy.
Do you ever offer your designs on sale? No, I don't usually ever have sales on my designs. What I try to do instead is to price them very low, so that anyone that wants them may afford them. I feel that this gives my customers the same treatment by giving them the same designs for the same price across the board.
Can the designs be successfully resized? This is a somewhat tricky question. :-) First of all, yes, the designs can be resized, but it definitely depends on the program you're using as to how successful you will be. Applique is not as easily resized as filled embroidery designs. Embird does NOT resize these designs well. It creates havoc with the satin stitches, deleting some of them, and turns jump stitches into running stitches. Designer Gallery SizeWorks is another program that doesn't resize these applique designs very well. Artista, on the other hand, does an excellent job of resizing, but you must consider how much you're reducing or enlarging and modify accordingly. For example, if the satin stitches become too narrow they will not cover the raw fabric edges well enough. If you enlarge too much, the satin stitches will become too wide and covert to split stitches instead of satin. The best answer to this question is to resize with caution and test your resized design before applying it to your project. As much as I would love to be able to give you an accurate idea of how the various programs will resize, it would be impossible for me to know how each program operates and whether or not it will do a good job. Just test, test, test. :-)
Do you offer quantity discounts? I do not offer discounts for large quantity purchasing unless you are a dealer purchasing for a dealership. I have many customers on fixed incomes and for that reason, I want the designs to remain at a low cost, but my low pricing structure does not allow me to discount the designs further for quantity purchases.
Do the designs include instructions for using them? Yes! Each design comes with it's own text file which gives you step by step stitching instructions for that design. The instructional files are easy to understand and will guide you through the applique process.
Do I have to pre-cut fabric shapes in order to use the designs? No. With our designs you will never have to cut out the shape of the applique piece first. The machine will tack the fabric into position, and then you will use a small scissors to trim around that section. This is easily accomplished by laying your hoop on a flat surface and trimming with a small scissors. You do not have to remove the fabric from the hoop to do this, so no difficult re-aligning of the design is required.
Can I use your designs on items that I make to sell? What are your copyright stipulations?
Our copyright agreement states the following:
Our designs are copyrighted to Sew Many Designs, and your purchase of our designs entitles you to stitch them out on gifts or items to sell which are produced one item at a time. Mass production of any kind is strictly prohibited. Items made with the designs may not be sold to retail markets such as clothing or craft stores, or any retail market venue which includes the sale of mass produced items. The designs may not be loaned, given, sold, or shared and are not intended for use by anyone other than the original purchaser. We appreciate your cooperation in abiding by our copyright terms.
